CalHeatScore Mapping Tool

CalHeatScore is a public health tool to help Californians stay informed, ready, and safe when temperatures rise. The purpose of CalHeatScore is to reduce heat-related illness and save lives by translating meteorological, weather and health data into easy-to-understand heat risk alerts. Update frequency: daily.Data Definitions:·       ZIP_CODE = Zip code identifier·       PO_NAME = Post office name·       STATE = State of zip code·       DAY_STRING = Day of forecast, including abbreviated day of week name, month, and day of month (e.g., “Mon Dec 08”)·       Category = CalHeatScore ranking (ranges from 0 to 4)·       DAY_ORDER = Order of forecast days (ranges from 0 to 6, with 0 indicating the current day), display values mirror DAY_STRING·       DAY_TEMP = National Weather Service (NWS) daily maximum apparent temperature for forecast pulled at 5am Pacific time of current day, rounded to the nearest integer·       TEMP_MAX = Record daily maximum air temperature from 1979-previous year for current calendar day (e.g., all previous December 8ths) from gridMET historical climate data·       TEMP_AVG = Average daily maximum air temperature from 1979-previous year for current calendar day (e.g., all previous December 8ths) from gridMET·       DAY_TEMP_AIR = NWS daily maximum air temperature for forecast pulled from current day·       Shape_Area = Area of zip code shape·       Shape_Length = Length of zip code shapeFor more information, see the CalHeatScore mapping tool or contact CalHeatScore@oehha.ca.gov.
