FINAL 2015 LONG-TERM CARE FACILITIES ANNUAL UTILIZATION DATABASE
Worksheet Names
The worksheet names refer to the various data sections from the ALIRTS, Annual Utilization Report of Long-Term Care Facilities input document.
Header Rows
The header rows contain both an abbreviated English name and the Section Line Column of the variables. For example the heading 1.2.1 is for Section 1, Line 2 and Column 1 of the Long Term Care Annual Utilization reporting form. The report form and instructions are located at the following Link:

Facility ID Numbers
The data for each facility in both data worksheets are in numeric order by OSHPD_ID number. The OSHPD_ID is assigned to the site, thus regardless of name and ownership changes, the ID number remains constant over time. The OSHPD_ID for all Long-Term Care Facilities begin with "206."
The 4th and 5th digits are the facility's county code number, and the last four digits are unique within the county.
Not-In-Operation and NonResponders
Not in Operation: There were 25 licensed Long-Term Care Facilities reported being "not in operation" during 2015 ("No" reported in field 1.9.1). Although there was no utilization to report, all their licensed capacities are displayed (their utilization data values are all zero).
NonResponders: There were 41 licensed Long-Term Care Facilities that failed to provide their utilization data for 2015 (each is listed in the NonResponders worksheet).
LTC Facilities by License Type
The specific Long-Term Care Facility license types are displayed on Line 1 of Section 2 (Column AK). The licensed types are Skilled Nursing Facility, Intermediate Care Facility, Intermediate Care Facility - Developmentally Disabled, Congregate Living Health Facility and Hospice Facility.
License Status & Status Date
In data file item LIC_STATUS, a licensed facility is noted as, 1) Open, 2)Closed, or 3)Suspense. Its associated data file item, LIC_STATUS_DATE, may not correspond to that status, especially if the year shown is 2015. Review ALIRTS online for comprehensive history (see next note).
ALIRTS On-Line
Both the data reported by and the licensing history for each facility are available from ALIRTS on the web at: http://www.alirts.oshpd.ca.gov/AdvSearch.aspx. At the ALIRTS screen, enter an OSHPD ID Number of interest (or other identifier) into the "Search" box in ALIRTS; at the next screen, select "View License" or "View Reports."
