Sacramento-San Joaquin Bay-Delta Continuous (15 minute) Water Quality Monitoring: Central Delta Region, collected by the North Central Region Office, Department of Water Resources, 2005 – ongoing.

The Department of Water Resources (DWR) Water Quality Evaluation Section (WQES) provides technical expertise and program support for regulatory compliance, water operations, emergency response, and environmental restoration. Wireless telemetry is used to transmit real-time data to the California Data Exchange Center (CDEC), making the data publicly available. The dataset contains 15-minute interval measurements collected from 12 monitoring stations using Xylem Yellow Springs Instruments (YSI) EXO2 and 6600 multiparameter sondes. The water quality parameters measured across the network include water temperature, specific conductance, dissolved oxygen, pH, turbidity, and chlorophyll fluorescence. The period of record and measured parameters vary among stations due to differences in monitoring objectives, regulatory requirements, and equipment configurations. The 12 monitoring stations are located within the Central Delta region to support modeling and management of Delta inflows and Old and Middle River (OMR) flows associated with State and Federal Delta export operations. The monitoring network remains active, and this dataset includes records between 2005 and 2025. The data package will be updated annually with data collected during the previous calendar year. The dataset informs operations for the California State Water Project and supports water quality monitoring required by Water Right Decisions D-1275 (1967), D-1379 (1971), and D-1641 (1999), NRDC v. Kempthorne (2008), the Executive Orders and §401 Water Quality Certifications relating to Emergency Drought Salinity Barriers, and the Incidental Take Permit 0281-2019-066-00. The monitoring stations included in this dataset are funded fully or in part by DWR's Operations and Maintenance Division's funds for Delta Smelt Turbidity Monitoring and Delta Compliance Monitoring, or by Proposition 50: Water Security, Clean Drinking Water and Beach Protection Act of 2002. ## About This Federated Record This CNRA Open Data Platform record is based on metadata federated from the Environmental Data Initiative (EDI) Data Portal.
