Dataset Description

SB601 Reporting

Provides the counting rule number associated with the observation for reference to the counting rule description (see counting rule document). 

Depicts the SB601 category being reported. 

Provides the sub-category field name being reported for the listed category. 

Provides the total observations reported for the field name as of the listed report date.

Identifies the end of the listed month and year where the total observations occurred for the given category, field name, and institution.

Per the report date, identifies the fiscal year in which the reported observation occurred.

The Senate Bill (SB) 601 dataset provides Statewide and Institution level metrics that are mandated per Penal Code 5055.5 (added by Stats. 2015, Ch. 162, Sec. 2. (SB 601), effective January 1, 2016.). SB601 data are collected and reported quarterly and are available on the public internet. The dataset is used to populate the SB601 Dashboard. Users can find data related to budgets, contraband, grievances, housing and more.
